Our history
Apex was formed in May 2022 by Julie Bowles and Jez Williams. Julie and Jez had previously worked together at Mercia Group, a well-known training provider to accountancy firms within the UK, prior to which each had worked within a Big Four firm of accountants as auditors. Both Julie and Jez have many years of experience at training, providing file reviews and consultancy to accountants and auditors. Apex is based in Loughborough UK, and provide services to firms across the UK and beyond.
Meet the Apex team.
Julie Bowles is a certified and chartered accountant. Julie has an extensive experience in the profession, qualifying with a mid-tier firm before moving into an audit manager role with PwC. From here, she followed her passion for sharing knowledge by moving into the training and compliance support sector. She is a self -confessed regulatory standards geek but when that is combined with her enthusiasm for supporting others and love of continuous personal development, the result is the perfect blend of factual knowledge with practical tips.
Jez Williams is a chartered accountant who qualified with KPMG before joining the training sector in 2000. Jez is a well-known speaker in the UK accounting circuit and served on the ICAEW Audit and Assurance Faculty Board between 2017 and 2023. He regularly presents for ICAEW and for other established training providers in the UK. Jez is also an experienced multimedia developer and designer, having created eLearning content for several Top Twenty firms. He is a media consultant for a number of UK training businesses.
